2016 sees Canadian premieres of Czech Operas (double-feature)

The Canadian Institute for Czech Music (CICM) will be presenting 2 operas for their 2016 season – as a double-feature. Both Vilém Blodek’s V studni (“In the well”) and Antonín Dvořák’s Tvrdé Palice (“The stubborn lovers”) will be Canadian premiere productions, and will feature a wonderful cast of Canadian talents.

In the comic short opera by Blodek, Kripa plays Lidunka, a young girl who tries to rely on magic to find her true love rather than good sense. When her “magical ritual” backfires, she is left wondering if she must choose between her heart’s desire and the one “chosen for her.”

These new productions are set to launch in October 2016.
